BMSI set out plans for 2020 and reflect upon a very successful 2019!

Earlier this month the BMSI team gathered in Manchester to review a successful 2019 and lay out plans for 2020, and beyond.

 

The event included an executive meeting with the BMSI board of directors, followed by a meeting chaired by BMSI MD John Axten, which was attended by the senior leadership team.

 

Speaking on the success of the event, BMSI Sales Director, James Smith, commented:

 

“This month’s meeting in Manchester was a great opportunity to reflect upon 2019’s achievements thus far, and acknowledge the great work employed by our valued team members and expanding regions.

 

As we set our plans and budget for 2020, we’re excited at the prospect of a prosperous year ahead for BMSI, whilst continuing to focus on nurturing and growing our talented, ever-expending, team!”

BMSI’s Kerr Gilmour Cycles to Cologne for Action for Children!

There must be something in the water at BMSI, as another team member completes an epic 300-mile cycle from London to Cologne, and all in the name of charity.

 

Last month, Business Development Manager for Scotland, Kerr Gilmour, rode a gruelling 294 miles through three counties in four days, from Trafalgar Square to the iconic Cologne Cathedral, in order to raise money to help improve the lives of children around the world.

 

BMSI were delighted to support Kerr in his endeavour, contributing to the foundation that aims to improve the lives of children through access to good nutrition and nutritional education around the world.

 

We’re delighted to report that Kerr made it back from his adventure in one piece, commenting:

 

“Despite a nasty bout of food poisoning along the way, I’m pleased to say that I survived the 294 mile ride, which covered a staggering 5200ft climb in the process.

 

The scenery en-route was simply amazing, as was being able to sample some of the finest larger along the way! I am very grateful for BMSI’s contribution and support in this endeavour…now, where to cycle to next!?.”

BMSI treat clients to day at Windsor races!

BMSI showed their appreciation for valued customers and colleagues from the aviation division with a day at Windsor racecourse this summer.

 

Making the most of the brilliant weather, the BMSI race day was attended by around 50 people, including 40 customers from BMSI’s aviation division and took place at Windsor’s prestigious racecourse in September. This was the perfect occasion for the team to show their appreciation to colleagues and customers from the BMSI Aviation division, which is based at London Heathrow airport.

 

Speaking on the success of the day, BMSI Sales Director, James Smith, commented:

 

“The BMSI race day was hugely enjoyable, as it always is when we get the opportunity to celebrate with our customers in a relaxed environment.

 

Each customer at the event was invited to test their betting skills by selecting the first 3 horses in each of the seven races, and thanks to the competitive nature of those present, the event got off to a very spirited start!

 

The eventual winner of the day was Chris Parsons of Trinity, who received a prize of £100.00, which was matched  by BMSI to be donated to the charity of his choice. Chris chose Great Ormond Street Hospital, and we are delighted to conform that the money has now been received by this very worthy charity.”

BMSI Directors say a big thank you to the team at Mercedes Benz World

BMSI Directors showed their appreciation for the BMSI UK Regional Managers last month by holding a race day at Mercedes World.

 

In aid of celebrating a successful business year to date, and to thank managers from across the UK for their hard work over the past year, the full board of BMSI Directors were delighted to bring together the Regional Managers, in both projects and support, at the prestigious Mercedes Benz World, Brooklands site in Weybridge.

 

The day consisted of a number of driving challenges where colleagues could compete against other members of the BMSI extended leadership team, as well as being part of an exclusive AMG driving experience.

 

BMSI MD, John Axten, was keen to sing the praises of the event, commenting:

 

“The outing to Mercedes World was planned as a thank you for the part our regional teams play in our overall success. It is also a great opportunity for everyone to meet up and enjoy each other’s company without the pressure of a presentation or official meeting to comprehend.

 

As always, the day was a tremendous success and it’s fair to say that everyone had a great time participating in a number of the driving challenges –  thankfully the competition stayed fairly healthy with no Clarkson-esque showdowns to speak of! We’ve have had a hugely successful year so far at BMSI, and it’s a pleasure to be able to reward the team for their contribution.”

BMSI help Heathrow to Reduce Carbon Emission with Electric Van

BMSI are helping Heathrow to achieve their carbon emissions targets by using a 100% electric vehicle on site.

 

Hoping to lead the way to a more energy-efficient future, BMSI’s Nissan NV200 electric van is already having a tangible, positive impact on air quality at Heathrow Airport. Used to transfer equipment and deliveries around the site, statistics from the last two years of using the van have demonstrated impressive savings across the board.

 

BMSI’s Regional Manager for Aviation, Gary Rackham, is proud to extol the benefits of BMSI’s latest green-focused endeavour:

 

“In just over 2 years of use, our  van has done 6,022 miles and our calculations show that we have saved 1,550 kg of CO2 and £561 in the cost of electric to diesel fuel – and this is from using just one vehicle.

 

The environmental and economic  benefits of making this transition are obvious, and we are proud to be a supplier that is actively integrating transport solutions that are of value to the environment into our work. We are also thrilled that our efforts are contributing in some small way towards Heathrow reducing their carbon emissions and air quality.”

BMSI’s Northern Region Celebrate Successful Start to the Year!

This summer, BMSI’s Northern office embarked on a day out in Liverpool to celebrate a successful first 6 months of the year.

 

In aid of a positive start to 2019, plus keen to utilise an opportunity for teambuilding, BMSI North enjoyed a raucous game of Junkyard Crazy golf in Liverpool city centre. Unsurprisingly, the game wasn’t short of a healthy dose of competition between teams.

 

BMSI Regional Manager, Adam Cain, describes how the day panned out:

 

“We decided to split into our groups and then hacked our way around the junkyard golf course, where it inevitably got very competitive! Lewis Rotheram was crowned the very worthy, inaugural BMSI Crazy Golf Champion after a tense few holes and was sure to be humble in his victory…

 

The team then headed out into the city centre to sample some of Liverpool’s bars before going on to eat at a buffet restaurant. The highlight of the meal was Chris Collins dropping a tray full of cold beers onto the table, but somehow still managing to save his own pint, typical! All in all, it was a great day with a hell of a lot of laughter, and a wonderful opportunity to spend the day bonding with the team and reflecting on a tremendous start to the year!”

London Support secure Deutsche Bank contract!

BMSI are thrilled to announce that our London Support Division have secured a contract at Deutsche Bank for various buildings across London and Birmingham.

These prestigious sites were won under fierce competition, and BMSI were successful due to our excellent reputation for  delivering a premium service. This, coupled with our innovative and flexible approach to the tender process, ensured this impressive win for the support team.

The impressive portfolio consists of 1 Appold Street, Winchester House, Main Complex, 10 Upper Bank Street, Zig Zag Building and Brindley Place.

 

Mark Stewart, BMSI’s London Support Manager is delighted with the win, commenting:

BMSI Reflect upon London Bridge Station Success!

In 2018 the London Bridge Station redevelopment (LBSR), was officially re-opened by HRH Prince William, and BMSI are delighted to look back upon an incredible project.

 

James Smith, BMSI Sales Director is delighted to reflect upon the success of the project, commenting:

“The scope and innovative nature of this project was a great achievement for the BMSI team and one that we’re proud to shout about since its completion. The scale of the work completed at LBSR is testament to our capabilities and capacity to deliver above our customers’ requirements, now and in the future.”

 

Taking place over 6 years, expanding the station to 16 Platforms and covering an area the size of Wembley Stadium, the revolutionary redevelopment at LBSR incorporates a staggering 76 Retail Units, as well as expanded staff accommodation and facilities.

Working for NG Bailey (on behalf of Network Rail) BMSI carried out design, supply and installation of the associated Trend BeMS, consisting of 35 MCC Panels, 36 Control Panels and 76 Retail Unit back plates. 65 sets of FCU Controls were also fitted across three levels throughout the Station. The Trend system is based upon the IQ4E ranges of controllers and Modules.

As well as plant control and monitoring at LBSR, the BeMS relays selected alarms to the SMS (Station Management System), together with almost 300 meters continuously monitored and recorded. Boiler, Chiller and Ventilation plant are also all controlled and monitored by the BeMS, plus an extensive Condense Water system provides individually metered energy to all the Retail Units, ensuring an innovative energy-efficient solution to a vastly upgraded, premium facility.
