BMSI Awarded Exclusive Support Contract with leading Broadcaster

BMSI’s Support Division have been awarded a major new Support contract for a leading UK broadcaster, covering the company’s entire portfolio of buildings across the UK.

 

The contract, which was won via one of our major trading partners, encompasses 54 buildings in total, including major sites across London, Salford, Cardiff and Glasgow.

 

This extensive range of sites have various BEMS installed, including Trend, Siemens and Honeywell. This emphasises one of BMSI’s major strengths in the marketplace; our ability to support a diverse range of manufacturer’s equipment.

BMSI’s Support Services Director, Keith Bankier, is delighted with the contract win, commenting:

BMSI continue innovative work at 52 Lime St

Since its completion, BMSI have continued to be hard at work on The Scalpel; a prominent addition to the most distinguished skyline in the city.

Originally working for Skanska on the development, BMSI provided a full Trend/Tridium BMS and Energy Management System. Comprising 80-plus control panels across the entire site and a building-wide EMS system operating from roof to basement, the BMS consists of approximately 20,000 points and an energy management system networked to over 1000 meters across the 41 floors.

Following completion of the development in 2018, BMSI have continued to work with various contractors, and to date have completed 32 of the 35 floors to CAT A and CAT B standard. These projects have been extremely fast moving to ensure that occupancy can keep apace with tenant demand for these spaces.

In addition, and as part of BMSI’s innovative support offering, 52 Lime Street is remotely connected to our Bureau in Warrington. BMSI’S Remote Monitoring Centre carries out continual diagnostics checks and amendments to the working environment and provides accurate energy data analysis to our client in real-time.

BMSI were delighted to receive the Gold standard award  from our partner Trend Controls. This is the fifth year BMSI have been recognised by Trend Controls for consecutively exceeding targets.

 

BMSI have received the award in recognition of our continued partnership with Honeywell Trend and for successfully exceeding our revenue targets for another successive year.

 

Having previously received the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards over consecutive years, BMSI have been acknowledged by Trend Controls as  being one of the top BEMS providers in the UK for trading at the highest levels based on annual spend and are one of only 7 other providers who have received this award in the UK and Ireland.

 

Receiving the Gold standard award once again only serves to solidify what is already set to be another successful year ahead for BMSI, according to company Sales Director, James Smith:

 

“Receiving the Gold standard award yet again is a great boost for the team and is the ideal indicator of further growth and success for BMSI in 2020.

BCIA 2020 Finalist:

 

BMSI is honoured to have been shortlisted as a finalist for the 2020 Building Controls Industry Awards in the Energy Management Award.

 

The BCIA Awards have been recognising outstanding innovations, effectual project delivery and advanced product development across the controls and BEMS industry for many years and we are thrilled to announce that our work in helping Heathrow Airport to successfully lower their carbon footprint has been recognised by the panel for this year’s Energy Management Award.

 

Commenting on the announcement, and looking ahead to the event itself, BMSI Sales Director, James Smith, commented:

Schneider EcoXpert:

 

BMSI MD, John Axten and Sales Director, James Smith were thrilled to receive their official Schneider EcoXpert accreditation earlier this month.

BMSI have been an approved Schneider dealer for many years and are thrilled to have been awarded the EcoXpert accreditation that has recently been introduced to distinguished partners.

Speaking on the accreditation, John Axten commented:

“The EcoXpert accreditation from Schneider recognises some of the highest levels of competency in the industry for those who deliver integrated building control, reliable power management and efficient energy solutions on a national scale.

BMSI mark 100,000 days RIDDOR free

BMSI are delighted to announce some positive news, February saw us pass the milestone of 100,000 man days worked since a RIDDOR reportable accident!

 

During the month of February there was only one reported minor incident that required minimal treatment. There were zero near misses reported.

 

As a responsible employer, BMSI employ innovative solutions to the lone worker problem to ensure that the safety of our employees is always at the forefront of our company ethos. As a result, the system that we now employ is at the technological forefront, ensuring staff safety across all of our sites.

“In the midst of these unprecedented times, it is uplifting for our team to be able to mark 100,000 days of being RIDDOR free. BMSI hold a strong belief in ensuring the safety of our employees, and our HSE solutions ensure they can be confident that there is always someone looking after them in an emergency.

 

Site inspections and Senior Management Tours are key to reinforcing a positive attitude to safety and help to ensure that we continue to receive a good volume of observations. This achievement is great for Senior Management but is also a massive boost for our staff who can work onsite knowing that they are being looked after 24/7.

BMSI Sales role – Scotland

BMSI’s Annual Sales Conference sets the tone for a hugely Successful 2020

BMSI’s annual sale conference took place earlier this month and once again set the bar for an incredibly successful year ahead for the prominent BMS provider.

 

Taking place on  6th – 7th February at the Hilton Hotel, Canary Wharf in central London, the event was hosted by the BMSI board of Directors and was attended by over 40 members of BMSI personal, including all regional managers from across the UK, plus 23 sales and business development engineers.

 

The conference was an opportunity to take an informative look back on the successes of 2019, including a 25% increase in turnover, a record number of orders, plus a rapid amount of growth across all UK regions. BMSI’s 2019 order input surpassed £22m and has once again enjoyed an extremely profitable and cash generating year in business.

 

Delighted with the successes of 2019, and looking forward to an even better 2020, BMSI Sales Director, James Smith, has high hopes for 2020, forecasting the following insights:

 

“We have great expectations for BMSI in 2020 and we’re already on track to achieve a 16% increase in turnover on 2019’s figures, as well as generating an order input of an estimated £30m.

 

We’re also focused on the continued investment of our ‘Energy Services’ offering and have an unwavering commitment to investing in the future of our superb sales team. All in all, 2019 has been a fantastic year for the company and we look forward to continuing to build the best in business in the market place.”

The event also allowed us to recognise the outstanding achievements of individual sales personnel and the best performing regions for 2019, the ideal way to round-off a great event and a hugely successful year.”

BMSI Help Heathrow to reduce Carbon Footprint

Heathrow Airport is a huge consumer of electrical power and as such any initiative that works to reduce electrical energy saves the airport considerable sums of money, and improves their carbon footprint.

 

One area of focus is the HVAC controls and the Air Handling Units in particular.  Even small adjustments to these systems can significantly improve the working environment and passenger areas.

 

To contribute to reducing energy usage at Heathrow Airport, BMSI identified where the most energy was being consumed and subsequently the most appropriate units to install for the most efficient upgrade.

 

The traditional belt-driven fan motors were replaced with innovative energy-efficient EC Fan Motors. Then, using the existing Trend BMS controls, BMSI were able to further reduce the motor speeds and keep the working environment for passenger areas.

 

Benefits have not only been the reduction in noise from the change of fans, but via the high level interfaces we now have a better understanding and control of the systems overall, with each EC fan being monitored via the Modbus interface.  This has been supplemented by other projects, including installing additional sensors to export all the Trend data to a Heathrow Global Scape SFTP server.

 

This has enabled the Trend BMS system configuration to be altered to further reduce the energy consumption at Terminal 5 and at the same time keeping the working passenger environments constant.
