What three words would you use to describe your role at BMSI?




What does a typical day look like for you at BMSI?

Today, I am sat in an airport waiting to fly back from a meeting with Hampshire County Council. So, I guess you could say each day is different.

However, a normal day would start with me getting to the office in Daresbury and ensuring that all of the days tasks have been picked up and are being managed. These things include BMS Alarms, connection issues, Energy Reports and Data Transfer into our energy platform.

Then, I would go through the progress of ongoing projects to ensure that we are on target to meet set-deadlines. We would then spend the rest of the day reacting to the incoming calls and issues that come in throughout the day.

If you could switch jobs with someone at BMSI, who would it be?

An engineer – it would be a very valuable insight.

What are your biggest professional challenges?

Keeping up with changing technolgy – we always like to stay ahead of the curve at BMSI, and our systems and platforms reflect that- so it is imperative that we work hard to ensure that we stay at the forefront.

What is the worst part of your job?

If I ever upset Irene Deakin, who keeps a close eye on Tea Room, by being messy!

Which employee gives you the most help in your role?

It’s hard to say, but I could name a few; Jen Johnson, Morgan Owen and Fraser Harrison all have enormous input into the operation of the Medi-Centre and we’d be a poorer team without them.

What would you change at BMSI?

Right now? Nothing! Other than I would move the Daresbury office closer to home…

What has been the best thing about working at BMSI in 2018?

Starting up the Bureau and developing it into its own department.

The team are steadily increasing in conjunction with the client base and it’s been a great success.

What advice would you give to new entrants into the company?

Welcome and get stuck in! The company as a whole adopts an open door policy in which employees can, and are encouraged to, make suggestions for improvements, whether it be at company level or job level.

Often new starters have a different perspective which can be very useful in keeping the business fresh and relevant.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

The most important thing I do in my spare time is to spend time with my family.

Aside from that, I can often be found at Anfield supporting Liverpool FC!

It mostly consists of swear words…
