Connie Cirket

Trainee Management Accountant

What three words would you use to describe your role at BMSI?

What does a typical day look like for you at BMSI?

A typical day at BMSI for me normally consists of several different tasks; doing day to day purchase ledger tasks, dealing with invoice queries, supplier statements, chasing regions for authorised invoices and processing documents received via the Finance central account email.

On top of this, I’m also studying and training for my CIMA apprenticeship, which includes lots of online lessons and tests… and now only 9 more exams to go!

If you could switch jobs with someone at BMSI, who would it be?

I am very happy where I am!!

What are your biggest professional challenges?

Training to become a CIMA qualified accountant, whilst gaining experience at the same time, can get a bit busy sometimes – but it’s also a great opportunity and a positive challenge that I’m happy to get stuck in to!

What is the worst part of your job?

Time seems to fly by far too quickly! But it’s always good to be busy, so I can’t really complain!

Which employee gives you the most help in your role?

I couldn’t name just one… but the whole finance team gives me great support and guidance whenever I need  it.

If there’s ever anything I need help with, I just have to ask, which is so important when working as part of a team and I’m very grateful for such a supportive environment.

What would you change at BMSI?

Not a lot at all.

The only thing that would make my work easier would be the implementation of a more automated system for expenses as it can be time consuming to check and process them.

What has been the best thing about working at BMSI in 2018?

The best thing about 2018 has been passing my apprenticeship CIMA Certificate back in March.

This allowed me to move onto the next step to become a qualified accountant and I’m very much looking forward to completing the next steps in 2019!

What advice would you give to new entrants into the company?

Welcome and relax!

Everyone at BMSI is so helpful and friendly, so if you need anything, don’t be afraid to ask!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I like to go out and socialise with friends and family and visit new places.

I also do love a holiday, ideally somewhere warm!

…and finally, what’s your Monday morning motto to get you through the week?

One step at a time, but always forward!
