BMSI’s Annual Sales Conference sets the tone for a hugely Successful 2020

BMSI’s annual sale conference took place earlier this month and once again set the bar for an incredibly successful year ahead for the prominent BMS provider.

Taking place on  6th – 7th February at the Hilton Hotel, Canary Wharf in central London, the event was hosted by the BMSI board of Directors and was attended by over 40 members of BMSI personal, including all regional managers from across the UK, plus 23 sales and business development engineers.

The conference was an opportunity to take an informative look back on the successes of 2019, including a 25% increase in turnover, a record number of orders, plus a rapid amount of growth across all UK regions. BMSI’s 2019 order input surpassed £22m and has once again enjoyed an extremely profitable and cash generating year in business.

Delighted with the successes of 2019, and looking forward to an even better 2020, BMSI Sales Director, James Smith, has high hopes for 2020, forecasting the following insights:

“We have great expectations for BMSI in 2020 and we’re already on track to achieve a 16% increase in turnover on 2019’s figures, as well as generating an order input of an estimated £30m.

We’re also focused on the continued investment of our ‘Energy Services’ offering and have an unwavering commitment to investing in the future of our superb sales team. All in all, 2019 has been a fantastic year for the company and we look forward to continuing to build the best in business in the market place.”

Continuing to sing the praises of the team and reflect upon the success of last week’s conference, BMSI Director, John Axten had this to add:

“This year’s annual sales conference was the perfect opportunity to reflect upon 2019’s achievements and celebrate the superb work employed by our valued team members and rapidly expanding regions. We were also joined by our partners Trend & Schneider for some informative and highly valuable sessions from their teams, and also by our in-house energy service team, headed by the indomitable Jen Johnson.

The event also allowed us to recognise the outstanding achievements of individual sales personnel and the best performing regions for 2019, the ideal way to round-off a great event and a hugely successful year.”

BMSI Help Heathrow to reduce Carbon Footprint

Heathrow Airport is a huge consumer of electrical power and as such any initiative that works to reduce electrical energy saves the airport considerable sums of money, and improves their carbon footprint.

One area of focus is the HVAC controls and the Air Handling Units in particular.  Even small adjustments to these systems can significantly improve the working environment and passenger areas.

To contribute to reducing energy usage at Heathrow Airport, BMSI identified where the most energy was being consumed and subsequently the most appropriate units to install for the most efficient upgrade.

The traditional belt-driven fan motors were replaced with innovative energy-efficient EC Fan Motors. Then, using the existing Trend BMS controls, BMSI were able to further reduce the motor speeds and keep the working environment for passenger areas.

Benefits have not only been the reduction in noise from the change of fans, but via the high level interfaces we now have a better understanding and control of the systems overall, with each EC fan being monitored via the Modbus interface.  This has been supplemented by other projects, including installing additional sensors to export all the Trend data to a Heathrow Global Scape SFTP server.

This has enabled the Trend BMS system configuration to be altered to further reduce the energy consumption at Terminal 5 and at the same time keeping the working passenger environments constant.

“BMSi have consistently provided an expert and professional service with regards to our Building Management Systems pan Airport. BMSi are always willing to help, no matter how complex the project is. They also provide a thorough understanding of Heathrow’s unique customer base. Their professionalism runs throughout the company from the Engineers on the shop floor through to their administration team and project managers. BMSI always going that extra mile to ensure Heathrow have optimised HVAC controls, as demonstrated in the recent EC Fans project that is saving 10Gwh per year and therefore £1.2 million on this project alone.  I look forward to continuing to work with BMSI.”

Andy Dobbs, Energy Project Manager, Heathrow Airport.

BMSI’s Kerr Gilmour Cycles to Cologne for Action for Children!

There must be something in the water at BMSI, as another team member completes an epic 300-mile cycle from London to Cologne, and all in the name of charity.

Last month, Business Development Manager for Scotland, Kerr Gilmour, rode a gruelling 294 miles through three counties in four days, from Trafalgar Square to the iconic Cologne Cathedral, in order to raise money to help improve the lives of children around the world.

BMSI were delighted to support Kerr in his endeavour, contributing to the foundation that aims to improve the lives of children through access to good nutrition and nutritional education around the world.

We’re delighted to report that Kerr made it back from his adventure in one piece, commenting:

“Despite a nasty bout of food poisoning along the way, I’m pleased to say that I survived the 294 mile ride, which covered a staggering 5200ft climb in the process.

The scenery en-route was simply amazing, as was being able to sample some of the finest larger along the way! I am very grateful for BMSI’s contribution and support in this endeavour…now, where to cycle to next!?.”

BMSI treat clients to day at Windsor races!

BMSI showed their appreciation for valued customers and colleagues from the aviation division with a day at Windsor racecourse this summer.

Making the most of the brilliant weather, the BMSI race day was attended by around 50 people, including 40 customers from BMSI’s aviation division and took place at Windsor’s prestigious racecourse in September. This was the perfect occasion for the team to show their appreciation to colleagues and customers from the BMSI Aviation division, which is based at London Heathrow airport.

Speaking on the success of the day, BMSI Sales Director, James Smith, commented:

“The BMSI race day was hugely enjoyable, as it always is when we get the opportunity to celebrate with our customers in a relaxed environment.

Each customer at the event was invited to test their betting skills by selecting the first 3 horses in each of the seven races, and thanks to the competitive nature of those present, the event got off to a very spirited start!

The eventual winner of the day was Chris Parsons of Trinity, who received a prize of £100.00, which was matched  by BMSI to be donated to the charity of his choice. Chris chose Great Ormond Street Hospital, and we are delighted to conform that the money has now been received by this very worthy charity.”

BMSI Directors say a big thank you to the team at Mercedes Benz World

BMSI Directors showed their appreciation for the BMSI UK Regional Managers last month by holding a race day at Mercedes World.

In aid of celebrating a successful business year to date, and to thank managers from across the UK for their hard work over the past year, the full board of BMSI Directors were delighted to bring together the Regional Managers, in both projects and support, at the prestigious Mercedes Benz World, Brooklands site in Weybridge.

The day consisted of a number of driving challenges where colleagues could compete against other members of the BMSI extended leadership team, as well as being part of an exclusive AMG driving experience.

BMSI MD, John Axten, was keen to sing the praises of the event, commenting:

“The outing to Mercedes World was planned as a thank you for the part our regional teams play in our overall success. It is also a great opportunity for everyone to meet up and enjoy each other’s company without the pressure of a presentation or official meeting to comprehend.

As always, the day was a tremendous success and it’s fair to say that everyone had a great time participating in a number of the driving challenges –  thankfully the competition stayed fairly healthy with no Clarkson-esque showdowns to speak of! We’ve have had a hugely successful year so far at BMSI, and it’s a pleasure to be able to reward the team for their contribution.”

BMSI’s Time Peperell gets Back on his Bike for Mental Health Awareness!

BMSI’s Major Projects Sales Manager, Tim Peperell, is taking to the road once again for a 74 mile bike-ride in aid of mental health.

This is ISG’s second annual Cycle for Charity bike ride, and it’s first in partnership with Mental Health UK, which will see Tim and the rest of the cycle-team ride 74 miles of winding country roads across the picturesque countryside of both Berkshire and Oxfordshire.

Taking on the challenge to help improve the lives of people fighting mental illness, Tim is eager for the ride to get underway:

“I’m very much looking forward to enjoying cycling through the English countryside, whilst also helping to raise awareness and funds for a very important and topical cause. Especially given the alarming rates of mental ill-health recorded within the wider construction industry in recent years, this year’s partnership feels like a very apt and welcome decision.”

Organisers of the event, Cycle for Charity, are keen to top last year’s total of £28,000 (raised for Macmillan Cancer Support) commenting:

“One in every four people in the UK live with a mental health condition that affects their daily life, whether it be from their physical health to their home, their work and managing money.

It doesn’t matter when you cross the finish line – it’s all about taking part. Our goal: to raise as much funds for people and their families affected by mental health problems as possible.”

BMSI are incredibly proud of all of Tim’s efforts in this endeavour and encourage people to donate generously to Mental Health UK, you can do so here – https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/isg-cycle-for-charity-2019
