SPOTLIGHT ON…

Regional Administrator

Multitasking

Satisfying
There is no ‘typical day’ at BMSI, as an email or phone call can change your whole day even if you have everything planned.
My day usually starts with checking emails to see if anything has come in overnight that needs to be dealt with straightaway. Then it’s usually checking reports & quotes from engineers prior to sending them out to customers and checking current and future workload for engineers, plus any other operational tasks.
In addition to this, a large part of my role involves liaising with the management team regarding any tasks that are required by myself to carry out.
I would switch with an engineer so that I could get a better understanding of a working BMS system and fully comprehend what they are dealing with on a daily basis.
I’d also like it if the engineers could come in to the office for the day to see what an admin day consists of – so they equally know what I am dealing with!
Scheduling engineers within the time frame that the customer expects, especially on emergency callouts, can be a challenge. This requires a carefully balanced juggling act of managing diaries and expectations, but a fast and efficient turn around, plus excellent customer service, is what we pride ourselves on at BMSI, so although it can be a challenge, it is one we always rise to.
I have been working at BMSI for 10 years, and while there is no real worst part to my job, the frustration of trying to re-organise engineers to meet a customer expectation is the thing I look forward to the least.
The other admin personnel in the Daresbury office are a huge source of support, especially in assisting in the ordering of parts for project jobs and lending out engineers so that SLA’s are met for the customer.
Nothing at present – I think BMSI are currently on a great path of expansion and growth and I think I speak for most of the personnel here when I say that we’re all very confident of a very successful few years ahead!
The great team spirit in the Daresbury office and our unwavering ability to deliver our customers’ expectations and be a part of BMSI’s growth for the future.
I would advise any new employees to throw themselves into being a part of the team and engage with people within BMSI as much as possible.
We are a freindly bunch and everyone is extremely supportive of each other, whether you’re a brand new employee or someone like me, who has been here for over a decade, people will always be there to help you when you need them.
I like to go to the gym most evenings, especially boxing on a Monday night!
I also enjoy going to the theatre to watch musicals, the cinema and, of course, the odd social drink!
I don’t really have a Monday morning motto – but I always start Monday with a positive attitude and a big smile!
