SPOTLIGHT ON…

Amarinder Grewal

Senior Project Manager

What three words would you use to describe your role at BMSI?

Teamwork

Diverse

Success

What does a typical day look like for you at BMSI?

There is no set typical day!

I work with many clients, partners and sub-contractors in my role, so every day is different, which I enjoy a lot.

If you could switch jobs with someone at BMSI, who would it be?

No one thanks – I am fine where I am and I love what I do.

What are your biggest professional challenges?

Within the BMS industry, I believe that our biggest challenge is recruitment, there is a shortfall of BMS trained people to be able to carry out the many roles we have in our industry.

This skill and resource shortage affect all of us in the industry, and without a doubt, this is one of the biggest professional challenges many of us will have and it falls to us all to look at innovative ways to fill this gap.

What is the worst part of your job?

I have been working at BMSI for 18 months and there is no worst part to my job – honestly!

Which employee gives you the most help in your role?

This really would be everyone I work with in my role, from the End-User Team (Steve Wingrove, Richard Dewdney, Steve Turner, Robert Palmer, David Morley, Joe Terry, Robert Hawkins & Chris Jones )- To our Sub-Contractor Partners (Knight Controls Ltd, Whitley & Tague Building Services Ltd & Hartley & Dark Electric Ltd)

What would you change at BMSI?

I think we have a great vision at BMSI and we are changing things for the right reasons, with that in mind, whilst we are on this path I am embracing the changes and looking forward to seeing where we can get to as a business.

What will be the best thing about working at BMSI in 2019?

Being given the opportunity to continue our success and strive to be the best we can be for our customers, and our colleagues, brings with it a great feeling to be part of this incredible team.

We have a magnificent work ethic and I truly believe that everybody in the team is committed to our vision, and I look forward to the journey we have ahead of us!

What advice would you give to new entrants into the company?

Be yourself, work hard, don’t be afraid to ask questions, continue to learn in your spare time, build relationships, be a team player and believe in yourself.

It is the people that make our business what it is today, and it is the people that will help in continuing our drive and success tomorrow.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I enjoy socializing with my family & friends, traveling, watching Formula 1 and Boxing.

…and finally, what’s your Monday morning motto to get you through the week?

Make a difference.
